Music, Films, Summer: Euro Jet Ready for the Festival Season in Its Core Region
Summer is almost here and with it begins the season of music and film festivals. In our core region of Central and Eastern Europe, Euro Jet is ready to support your flights related to the many cultural events taking place this July and August.
To keep up to date with what lies ahead of us, we have put together an overview of the music and film festivals that are expected to have the biggest impact on the general aviation traffic at key Euro Jet represented airports. We are also pleased to present our teams of on-the-ground agents who are responsible for supervising flights arriving at these locations. Follow Euro Jet’s LinkedIn profile for further updates on procedures and operational advice connected to the festivals.
Czech Republic
The 58th Karlovy Vary International Film Festival will take place in the beautiful Western Bohemian spa town from June 28 to July 6, 2024. The festival which traditionally attracts many international movie celebrities, has Australian actor Geoffrey Rush as its headliner this year.
At Karlovy Vary Airport (LKKV/KLV), located just 10 km outside the city center, Euro Jet runs its own complimentary VIP crew lounge with comfortable couches for relaxation as well as a computer work area with full Wi-Fi capabilities. With regards to ground services, the most important recommendation is to make your hotel reservations as soon as possible.
The Czech Republic’s biggest music festival, Colors of Ostrava, is scheduled to take place this July 17-20, 2024. Headlined by Sam Smith and Lenny Kravitz, the festival brings four days packed with great music, art, theatre, and films.
Leos Janacek Ostrava Airport (LKMT/OSR) is located 30 minutes away from Dolni Vitkovice where the festival takes place. The airport provides sufficient space for both short-term and long-term parking. There is one main terminal for all types of flights and two VIP lounges available. Accommodation directly in the city of Ostrava should be booked as soon as possible.
Hungary
The summer season in Hungary kicks off with the Balaton Sound music festival taking place from July 3 to 6, 2024, on the beach in Zamardi at Lake Balaton. The unique location on the shores of the “Hungarian Sea” offers an extraordinary setting for four days filled with world-class electronic music.
The closest airport, Heviz-Balaton Airport (LHSM/SOB) is located 55 minutes away from the festival venue. Euro Jet’s Ground Support Coordinator, Adam Farkas is ready to assist with any necessary flight support services.
In August, Budapest will host one of its largest events of the year. The Sziget music festival is expected to bring together over 100 nationalities to the Island of Freedom on the Danube River from August 7-12, 2024.
Led by Euro Jet’s Country Manager, Peter Pazurek, our team based out of Budapest’s Ferenc Liszt International Airport (LHBP/BUD) will be there to ensure your arrival and departure to and from Budapest are as worry-free as the festival itself.
Slovakia
From August 16-18, 2024, Slovakia’s capital city of Bratislava will host the third year of the LOVESTREAM music festival. Over 100,000 festival goers are expected to gather for three days at the Old Vajnory Airport to dance to the music of 30+ world-renowned pop stars.
The Old Vajnory Airport is located 6km away from Bratislava’s main M.R. Stefanik Airport (LZIB/BTS), an eight-minute drive to the festival. While most hotels are situated 15 minutes away in downtown Bratislava, there are also accommodation options in the vicinity of the festival as well as the airport. We recommend completing your hotel booking as soon as possible.
Serbia
From July 10-14, 2024, the city of Novi Sad in the northern part of Serbia will host EXIT, a massive music festival featuring over 1000 artists performing at 40 stages in the Petrovaradin Fortress.
Novi Sad is located approximately one hour from Belgrade Airport (LYBE/BEG) where Euro Jet has an office for crews to relax or get some work done. Based on our team's experience supporting flights for the EXIT festival in previous years, we strongly advise our customers to reach out to us as soon as possible for hotel bookings and available parking positions.
Bosnia and Herzegovina
For a full week from August 16 to August 23, 2024, the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina will host the 30th edition of the Sarajevo Film Festival. The largest event of its kind in Southeast Europe, the Festival offers an important platform for showcasing regional productions while connecting screenwriters, directors, and producers with the international film community. This year, the Mexican actor Gael Garcia Bernal will be one of the guests.
At Sarajevo airport (LQSA/SJJ), Euro Jet’s customers are welcome to use our own complimentary VIP crew lounge located on the second floor of the main terminal. All flights arriving in Sarajevo are directly supported by our Country Manager, Aida Selimovic and our Ground Support Coordinator, Nino Ninic.
