Kick-Off in Germany: Euro Jet’s Airport Guide for the European Football Championship
Euro Jet is ready to support your flights related to the upcoming European Football Championship taking place in Germany June 14-July 14, 2024. As the matches will be held in 10 different German cities, we have put together an overview of the most essential information regarding slots, main airports, and the closest repositioning options to help you navigate your flight operations all over the country.
The European Championship matches will be played in Berlin, Leipzig, Hamburg, Dortmund, Gelsenkirchen, Düsseldorf, Cologne, Frankfurt, Stuttgart, and Munich. The semi-finals will be held in the Fußball Arena in Munich and in the BVB Stadion in Dortmund. The final match will be played on July 14 at 21:00 in the Olympiastadion in Berlin.
Slot Coordination
There will be seven coordinated airports during the Championship, which include Berlin Brandenburg, Dusseldorf, Cologne-Bonn, Frankfurt am Main, Stuttgart, Hamburg, and Munich. All flights arriving to or departing from any of these seven airports will require an airport slot allocated by Fluko Flughafen Deutschland GmbH prior to the operation and prior to filing the corresponding ATC flight plan.
Service type code L must be used for all flights with passengers operated specifically for the Championship so that the tournament-related requests can be identified among all other requests.
Priority slots will be assigned based on the special priority order, with scheduled and non-scheduled flight services according to Regulation (EEC) No. 95/93 having the first priority, flights carrying football teams and flights carrying fans having the second and the third priority followed by other ad hoc flights.
Slots that have already been allocated or slot requests without relation to the Championship will not be affected by these new rules and will be treated following a standard procedure.
